My Orchids

I have been collecting and growing orchids for 30 years.  It all started one Christmas when I bought two small red orchids to place on each end of my fireplace mantle.  After they were finished blooming I didn’t want to toss them in the trash so I found a nearby orchid nursery that would rent me “boarding space”.  For a monthly charge the nursery staff would place my plants in their greenhouse and take care of them.  Kind of like foster parents.  When the plants bloomed again the nursery would call me and let me know that I could pick up my plants to enjoy in my home.  This worked out well and I continued to buy more plants while visiting orchid shows and nurseries.  My collection grew to about 200 plants.
